Bob Good’s Statement on the 5th District Republican Convention

Lynchburg, Va — The Riggleman campaign continues what has now become a long drawn-out scorched earth effort to cover for his failing bid at re-election. Last night the 5th District Committee voted to reschedule the Republican nominating convention for June 13 at Tree of Life Church in Lynchburg. Said Good, “The 5th District committee, in concert with the Republican Party of Virginia, has been working hard to reschedule the convention with guidance from the Virginia Department of Health. We are grateful that the Committee is planning a convention that will protect the safety of all participants and will allow all delegates to cast their votes for their candidate of choice”. With a clear lead of 62% of the registered delegates, Mr. Good expects a very strong turnout of supporters on June 13.

Despite a 10 to 1 fundraising advantage, the Riggleman campaign has been unable to keep pace with the grassroots support for Bob Good and has resorted to baseless smears and obfuscation of the truth. “We are in regular contact with our delegates and they are not fooled by the attempts to dissuade them from going to the convention”, said Good. The Riggleman campaign tactics have included a lawsuit drafted to try to persuade the district committee to join their efforts to force a primary nomination method, in direct violation of the State Republican Party Plan, and their latest desperate move to stop the convention by dishonestly claiming that the venue is outside the district. “The Riggleman campaign will stop at nothing to disrupt the will of over 3,500 delegates who are duly registered and certified for the convention. I am thankful that Chairman Adams has been steadfast in his duties and is willing to correct the record repeatedly when the Riggleman camp puts out a new batch of falsehoods, almost daily. I look forward to securing the nomination one month from now and beginning preparations to run against the Democrat Party’s nominee.”

It's up to you: Bob relies on the generous support of people like you to keep his campaign going.
